What our love was like

The two of us knew we were bound from the moment we saw one another

It was like we had already fallen in love once before

Even when we were apart we could feel the others presence on earth

We tried many times to let each other go but our souls would not allow it.

There was a force between us that couldn’t be stopped.

It wasn’t about looks or what the other had to offer but just pure complete love

We laughed and cried and held hands and blew through life with vigor

Many tried to quelch us, blocking us from being together,

But the draw between us was too powerful.

Like food for the hungry, breath for the dead, or water for the thirsty, the love we had gave us life

Then one day, the reaper saw his chance to come between us and he took you.

I felt a part of me die that day along with you

I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t eat, and I had a thirst that would not be quenched. I hurt from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet

My heart was torn open and bled for months on end

But today, I know we'll be together again soon so I don’t fret like I did when you first left.

My soul knows yours is somewhere out in the universe.

And I know you are watching over me.

Yet I continue to search and grasp to feel your life force in the cosmos.
